Canvas is a dynamic network of creators, producers, artists and collaborators specializing in experiential design and event production. Our Wicker Park office is a modular toolbox and work space for multi-media production, consulting work, and uncommon events
In the spring of 2014, Canvas was approached by the Teach For America fundraising staff about providing event consultation, print material design, and on site installation art that speak to the core values and mission of TFA.
Over several months of planning, refinement and fabrication, Canvas pulled together a creative team from its design community to facilitate 4 large installation pieces, a comprehensive event plan, a magazine style program and detailed print media for their successful Spring Gala fundraiser.
This gallery showcases the print design work, interactive art installations and archived installation process of Canvas' commissions for TFA.
The TFA Gala Project Team features the work of:
In Canvas' production toolbox is a 3000 sq. ft. workshop and modular event space. Our main room is outfit with a club grade sound system, digital mixing console, two 1080p HDMI projectors, and an adjacent vocal booth for isolated audio recording.
Canvas is home to Shivaree Studios, the Audio/Video/Design laboratory of Vincent Theodore Naples. There are 4 private studios on site, two of which are equipped for high end project studio audio tracking.
The 2000 sq. ft. courtyard and graffiti garden provide private outdoor seating and a unique historical look at the artists that have inhabited this space over the past 50 years.
Canvas rents its resources, space and equipment to like minded creators, forward thinking businesses, and inspired individuals with a vision to manifest.

Planetary Collective is a group of filmmakers, visual media creatives, and thinkers who work with cosmologists, ecologists, and philosophers to explore some of the big questions facing our planet at this time.
PC had aspirations of raising funds to complete and release a full-length documentary called Continuum. The film is about the emerging worldview of interdependence of our planet and weaves together perspectives and ideas from some of the key theorists and thinkers in the fields of cosmology, environmentalism, sustainability, social theory, anthropology, and systems dynamics, telling the story of where we have come from, where we are now, and the possibilities for our future.
The team approached Canvas with an idea of hosting a Chicago based release party for their KickStarter campaign to raise money to pay for editing and the remaining shooting needed to complete their Continuum film.
Canvas worked with PC to put together a successful release party including a full theater-sized screening of their Continuum trailer, popcorn, space suit clad staff, and staging and PA for Q+A with team members.
The Wicker Park/Bucktown Chamber of Commerce in Chicago commissioned a campaign called Wed Local to showcase wedding industry vendors local to the developing neighborhood.
Canvas worked with Wed Local and the Chamber to create a vibrant VIP after-party for the campaign release that represented the brands desire to create unique and exciting wedding environments.
The Sunday afternoon event incorporated several Wicker Park business owners and vendors, live musicians, DJ, VJ and live painting by renowned Chicago artist Slang, and catering by local food cart Haut and the Dog.
